Gerhard Berger has admitted he is ‘super busy’ with being Gerhard Berger.
‘You know, it’s just crazy,’ the Austria driver admits. ‘I get up in the morning and think, what do I have to do to today? And then I remember, I have to be ten time Formula 1 race winner Gerhard Berger. I’m not complaining, but it’s pretty much a full time job.’
‘Let me talk you through my diary for next week, for example,’ the ex-Ferrari legend continues. ‘Monday, be Gerhard Berger. Tuesday, more Gerhard Berger. Wednesday, being Gerhard Berger with some guys from BMW. Thursday, a whole day of Gerhard Berger in Italy. Nothing in for Friday at the moment so I’ll probably just Gerhard Berger from home.’
The former McLaren driver admits he has thought about seeking other work but just never finds the time. ‘Oh ja, for sure sometimes I think about volunteering in a local charity shop,’ he reveals. ‘But the truth is, I’m just so damn busy being Gerhard Berger. It’s exhausting.’
‘Please don’t get me wrong,’ the Austrian concludes. ‘It’s a great job and there’s not a day goes by when I don’t thank God I’m not Nigel Mansell.’
