With little ceremony, Mazda has knocked out its last Wankel. The final Wankel was completed last week with no crowds and no photographers; in fact Mazda waited until everyone was out of the house before the final Wankel was started.
Mazda won’t say how long the Wankel took to finish, only that it was fairly quick. Sources say that shortly after the Wankel was done, Mazda caught sight of itself in a mirror and felt a strange mixture of guilt and shame. By then, however, it was too late – the Wankel was over.
Mazda has been proud of its Wankels and enthusiasts must be saddened that the company can no longer boast of having a Wankel on its price lists.
Of course, it is thought that other car companies have Wankels too, but they are behind closed doors.
