Vettel’s new RB10 -1, yesterday

Red Bull has announced that struggling Sebastian Vettel will use a new chassis for this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix. In line with his tradition of nicknaming his cars, the German driver has already christened the new machine ‘Last Year Linda’ although internally it is known simply as RB10 -1.

RB10 -1 features a number of changes including a new, simplified energy recovery system allied to a mysterious ‘V6 +2’ engine.

More radically, Red Bull has announced that it is dropping Daniel Ricciardo for the Spanish race and replacing him with veteran driver Mark Webber who the team say is ‘consistent, experienced and beatable’.

Finally, Vettel’s updated RB10 -1 car will be fitted with special Velcro straps in the cockpit to ensure the toys cannot be thrown out at speed.
