Trouser enthusiasts from all over the country will be heading to Sussex this weekend for the 21st Goodwood Festival of Strides.

This year’s festival promises to be bigger and better than ever with all manner of trousering going through its paces in the grounds of Goodwood House including a treat from Lord March himself who promises to wander about the site sporting an especially strident pair of red trousers from his personal collection.

Other highlights will include a huge display of beige chinos and an eye-watering range of brightly coloured trousers sported by well-spoken men of a certain age. There are rumours that Adrian Hamilton will be in attendance on Saturday and Sunday, attired in a classically disgusting salmon pink trouser previously worn by his legendary father Duncan.

As an additional treat for festival goers, there will be a special exhibition looking back at 40 years of Jackie Stewart’s incredibly loud tartan trousers for which visitors are recommended to bring sunglasses and a strong stomach.

The Goodwood Festival of Strides starts today and runs in two legs until Sunday
