Ford has announced details of a limited edition based on the forthcoming new Mondeo, designed to pay homage to the much-loved mark 2 version of the car.
Badged the Mondeo Gaffer Edition, the new model’s most distinctive feature is a back bumper almost entirely held together with several layers of grey sticky tape.
The car includes a host of other 15-year-old mk2 Mondeo-inspired features including a taped-on door mirror, one mismatched wheel trim, a large scuff along the driver’s door, and a handwritten sign in the back window which reads ‘For sale. Good runer. £300.’
Inside, Ford says the Mondeo Gaffer Edition boasts ‘a large number of stains’ on the seats and ‘quite a lot of paint’ in the boot carpet. As a finishing touch, the company’s Essex R&D centre has worked tirelessly to create ‘an overwhelming smell’ of wet farty tobacco.
The Mondeo Gaffer Edition is available to order now, with first customers set to pick up their three mismatched keys in January.
