A new British-made sports car is set to take on the Porsche 911 Turbo using F1 know-how. Unfortunately, the F1 know-how in question comes from McLaren.
The new McLaren 570S, revealed this week in New York, is claimed to have 562 horsepower but will actually produce a disappointing amount less, at least in the early stages of ownership. As a result, the car will be much, much slower than rivals, at least until it goes wrong halfway through a journey and has to drive immediately into a garage.
The styling of the 570S is pleasingly unadorned by sponsors and comes with state-of-the-art technology such as a system that notices cars in front of it, which is all of them.
McLaren say the 570S is designed to a put a smile on the driver’s face. The kind of smile you do through gritted teeth whilst attempting to appear carefree and cheery as an interviewer asks yet another question about your shitty, shitty racing car.
